Umbrella writing - movie chunk

 Ki ora! Welcome back to my blog. This week, we have been writing a chunk from an animated short movie that we have watched. It is called Umbrella, and it is about empathy. A little boy called Dorris was at a Children's Home, and a little girl with a yellow umbrella came and donated a box of toys to the Home. The yellow umbrella was a lot like the one Dorris's dad had. The girl did not want to donate her old toys. This is my chunk I wrote. Can you find some adverbs?

Umbrella

Early one gloomy morning, the brown door to Miss Elem’s Home for Children creaked and swung open. The girl with the mustard yellow umbrella hesitated before slowly stepping through the door and placing her umbrella on the umbrella stand. Dorris swiftly swung his head around the doorframe, not wanting to be seen. Standing off to the side, the girl surveyed the joyous scene as the happy kids dived into the box for hidden treasures. The girl grinned coyly as her eyes traced the young boy shooting around like a rocket. Her simper slid off her face as she glanced back at the umbrella stand and all she saw were drips of water. Her precious umbrella was gone.

Here are the meanings of some words you might not understand:

Hesitated = stop to think about it for a second before you do it
Surveyed = looking slowly at someone or something
Joyous = happy and joyful
Coyly = smiling is a shy way
Simper = a happy smile
Precious = something that you really like

If you like this blog, Please comment! Tell me if you found the adverbs!
